Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in Pune

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Pune, the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, which makes timing the variable that matters. Two shorter outings work better here for a breed this size. Dry the coat and ears thoroughly after baths or rain to prevent fungal and skin issues.

Grooming and coat care in Pune

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, a Pointer Puppy's coat and skin want checking more often through the long monsoon. On a larger coat, matting and trapped moisture are what to catch early. Dry the coat and ears thoroughly after baths or rain to prevent fungal and skin issues.

Apartment living with a Pointer Puppy

Space is the binding constraint in a city, and a settled temperament matters more in a shared building than anywhere else. For a loyal, loving, confident dog the fit is usually good either way.

Living with a Pointer Puppy in Pune

With apartment living common across the city, Pointer Puppy owners do well with structured indoor routines and regular outdoor walks. In a city, the routine has to be deliberate — fixed walk times, a defined resting spot.

Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In warm and humid conditions water matters as much as food — the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Pune is hottest in April, averaging 38°C in the afternoon. A Pointer needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are mild, with January nights around 12°C, so cold is not a concern.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Pointer puppy, the easiest months to arrive are October to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
