Exercise and routine through the extended rainy season in Samulamlan

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Samulamlan, the green, rainy climate is mild but demands dry shelter and grooming discipline, which makes timing the variable that matters. Two shorter outings work better here for a breed this size. Maintain strict tick, flea and worm control, which peak in the wet season.

Is the Pointer Puppy right for Samulamlan?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here the green, rainy climate is mild but demands dry shelter and grooming discipline, and a large-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Pointer Puppy adapts well to Samulamlan on a sensible routine — shorter outings, timed away from the midday heat. Towel-dry after every walk in the rains and check between the toes for irritation.

Health and vet care in Samulamlan

Preventive care in Samulamlan is largely a matter of anticipating the extended rainy season. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the puppy; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Maintain strict tick, flea and worm control, which peak in the wet season.

Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In monsoon-heavy conditions water matters as much as food — the green, rainy climate is mild but demands dry shelter and grooming discipline, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 30°C in April, so heat is rarely the problem for a Pointer that it is on the plains.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 8°C. A Pointer has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from May to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Pointer puppy, the easiest months to arrive are March, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
