Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in Dunguripali

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Dunguripali, the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, which makes timing the variable that matters. Two shorter outings work better here for a breed this size. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Feeding a large dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a large frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, keep water available and watch intake through the long monsoon.

Living with a Greyhound Puppy in Dunguripali

Homes here often have more space and independent plots, which gives a Greyhound Puppy room to move and settle in comfortably. Owners in the east tend to find this dog a gentle, quiet, fast companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Is the Greyhound Puppy right for Dunguripali?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, and a large-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Greyhound Puppy adapts well to Dunguripali on a sensible routine — shorter outings, timed away from the midday heat. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Dunguripali is hottest in May, averaging 43°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Greyhound needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 12°C.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Greyhound puppy, the easiest months to arrive are October to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
