Grooming and coat care in Tikiri

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, a Tibetan Mastiff Puppy's coat and skin want checking more often through the long monsoon. On a larger coat, matting and trapped moisture are what to catch early. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Is the Tibetan Mastiff Puppy right for Tikiri?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, and a giant-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Tibetan Mastiff Puppy adapts well to Tikiri on a sensible routine — shorter outings, timed away from the midday heat. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Feeding a giant dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a giant build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In humid coastal conditions water matters as much as food — the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Space and the outdoors with a Tibetan Mastiff Puppy

Homes around Tikiri usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A breed this size needs that outdoor time to be dependable, not occasional.

Health and vet care in Tikiri

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the long monsoon rather than during it. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

Summer here peaks in April at about 36°C. That is manageable for a Tibetan Mastiff, but watch it closely because its short muzzle makes panting less effective at shedding heat and a giant body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 10°C.

The rainy season runs from June to October, and August is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Tibetan Mastiff puppy, the easiest months to arrive are November to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
