Exercise and routine through the dry summer months in Antali

The dry summer months is the stretch that needs planning. Summers are long and intense, so heat management is the single biggest priority, so split the activity across two cooler outings rather than one long session. Consistency does more for a Greyhound Puppy than intensity ever will. Walk early in the morning or after sunset when the ground is cool, never on hot pavement.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In hot semi-desert conditions water matters as much as food — summers are long and intense, so heat management is the single biggest priority, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Homes here often have more space and independent plots, which gives a Greyhound Puppy room to move and settle in comfortably. Owners across North India tend to find this dog a gentle, quiet, fast companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Space and the outdoors with a Greyhound Puppy

Homes around Antali usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A breed this size needs that outdoor time to be dependable, not occasional.

Antali is hottest in May, averaging 40°C in the afternoon. A Greyhound needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 6°C.

The rainy season runs from July to August, and August is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Greyhound puppy, the easiest months to arrive are September to March: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
