Grooming and coat care in Srimushnam

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, a Kanni Puppy's coat and skin want checking more often through the long monsoon. On a larger coat, matting and trapped moisture are what to catch early. Dry the coat and ears thoroughly after baths or rain to prevent fungal and skin issues.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Winters stay warm, with even January nights around 20°C, so there is no cold season to plan for.

The rainy season runs from October to November, and November is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Kanni puppy, the easiest months to arrive are January, February, August, September and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
