Exercise and routine through the brief pre-monsoon heat in Doultabad

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Doultabad, the plateau climate is relatively moderate, which suits a wide range of breeds, which makes timing the variable that matters. Two shorter outings work better here for a breed this size. Maintain a regular grooming routine suited to the breed's coat.

Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In moderate Deccan conditions water matters as much as food — the plateau climate is relatively moderate, which suits a wide range of breeds, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Grooming and coat care in Doultabad

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With the plateau climate is relatively moderate, which suits a wide range of breeds, a Greyhound Puppy's coat and skin want checking more often through the brief pre-monsoon heat. On a larger coat, matting and trapped moisture are what to catch early. Keep vaccinations, deworming and annual vet checks on schedule year-round.

Doultabad is hottest in May, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Greyhound needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are mild, with December nights around 14°C, so cold is not a concern.

The rainy season runs from July to September, and August is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Greyhound puppy, the easiest months to arrive are January, February, June, October, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
