Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In pleasant semi-tropical conditions water matters as much as food — comfortable temperatures for most of the year make routine care straightforward, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Living with a Greyhound Puppy in Kothur

Homes here often have more space and independent plots, which gives a Greyhound Puppy room to move and settle in comfortably. With more room to work with, the routine can stay informal, though it should still be regular.

Is the Greyhound Puppy right for Kothur?

Kothur is pleasant semi-tropical — comfortable temperatures for most of the year make routine care straightforward — and the Greyhound Puppy is a large-sized, gentle, quiet, fast breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size needs its hard exercise moved to the cooler hours. Maintain a regular grooming routine suited to the breed's coat.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Space and the outdoors with a Greyhound Puppy

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a gentle, quiet, fast dog the fit is usually good either way.

Kothur is hottest in May, averaging 44°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from March to May. A Greyhound needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are mild, with December nights around 14°C, so cold is not a concern.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Greyhound puppy, the easiest months to arrive are October to January: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
