Grooming and coat care in Markook

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With comfortable temperatures for most of the year make routine care straightforward, a Greyhound Puppy's coat and skin want checking more often through the brief pre-monsoon heat. On a larger coat, matting and trapped moisture are what to catch early. Provide shade and water during the short hot spell before the monsoon.

Feeding a large dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a large frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because comfortable temperatures for most of the year make routine care straightforward, keep water available and watch intake through the brief pre-monsoon heat.

Exercise and routine through the brief pre-monsoon heat in Markook

The brief pre-monsoon heat is the stretch that needs planning. Comfortable temperatures for most of the year make routine care straightforward, so split the activity across two cooler outings rather than one long session. Consistency does more for a Greyhound Puppy than intensity ever will. Take advantage of the mild weather with consistent daily walks and play.

Space and the outdoors with a Greyhound Puppy

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a gentle, quiet, fast dog the fit is usually good either way.

Markook is hottest in May, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Greyhound needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are mild, with December nights around 14°C, so cold is not a concern.

The rainy season runs from July to September, and August is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Greyhound puppy, the easiest months to arrive are January, February, June, October, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
