Exercise and routine through the brief pre-monsoon heat in Metpalli

The brief pre-monsoon heat is the stretch that needs planning. The balanced weather is one of the easier indian climates for pet ownership, so split the activity across two cooler outings rather than one long session. Consistency does more for a Greyhound Puppy than intensity ever will. Provide shade and water during the short hot spell before the monsoon.

Space and the outdoors with a Greyhound Puppy

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a gentle, quiet, fast dog the fit is usually good either way.

Living with a Greyhound Puppy in Metpalli

Larger plots and open surroundings make this a comfortable setting for an active Greyhound Puppy. With more room to work with, the routine can stay informal, though it should still be regular.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In pleasant semi-tropical conditions water matters as much as food — the balanced weather is one of the easier Indian climates for pet ownership, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Metpalli is hottest in May, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Greyhound needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are mild, with December nights around 15°C, so cold is not a concern.

Most of the year's rain falls in September. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Greyhound puppy, the easiest months to arrive are January, February, June, October, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
