Larger plots and open surroundings make this a comfortable setting for an active Greyhound Puppy. With more room to work with, the routine can stay informal, though it should still be regular.

Is the Greyhound Puppy right for Nampally?

The Greyhound Puppy does well in Nampally, with one caveat worth knowing up front: the balanced weather is one of the easier Indian climates for pet ownership. For a gentle, quiet, fast, large-sized breed that mostly changes when things happen rather than what happens. Keep vaccinations, deworming and annual vet checks on schedule year-round.

Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In moderate Deccan conditions water matters as much as food — the balanced weather is one of the easier Indian climates for pet ownership, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Space and the outdoors with a Greyhound Puppy

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a gentle, quiet, fast dog the fit is usually good either way.

Nampally is hottest in May, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Greyhound needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are mild, with December nights around 14°C, so cold is not a concern.

The rainy season runs from July to September, and August is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Greyhound puppy, the easiest months to arrive are January, February, June, October, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
