The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Feeding a large dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a large frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because the plateau climate is relatively moderate, which suits a wide range of breeds, keep water available and watch intake through the brief pre-monsoon heat.

Living with a Kanni Puppy in Narayanaraopet

Homes here often have more space and independent plots, which gives a Kanni Puppy room to move and settle in comfortably. Owners throughout peninsular India tend to find this dog a loyal, shy, alert companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Exercise and routine through the brief pre-monsoon heat in Narayanaraopet

The brief pre-monsoon heat is the stretch that needs planning. The plateau climate is relatively moderate, which suits a wide range of breeds, so split the activity across two cooler outings rather than one long session. Consistency does more for a Kanni Puppy than intensity ever will. Take advantage of the mild weather with consistent daily walks and play.

Grooming and coat care in Narayanaraopet

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With the plateau climate is relatively moderate, which suits a wide range of breeds, a Kanni Puppy's coat and skin want checking more often through the brief pre-monsoon heat. On a larger coat, matting and trapped moisture are what to catch early. Provide shade and water during the short hot spell before the monsoon.

Narayanaraopet is hottest in April, averaging 41°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from March to May. A Kanni needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are mild, with December nights around 16°C, so cold is not a concern.

The rainy season runs from June to October, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Kanni puppy, the easiest months to arrive are November to January: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
