Grooming and coat care in Devprayag

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, a Mudhol Hound Puppy's coat and skin want checking more often through the cold winter season. On a larger coat, matting and trapped moisture are what to catch early. Provide a warm, draught-free sleeping spot and a coat for short-haired breeds in winter.

Feeding a large dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a large frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, keep water available and watch intake through the cold winter season.

Space and the outdoors with a Mudhol Hound Puppy

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a alert, loyal, athletic dog the fit is usually good either way.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Summer here peaks in May at about 33°C. That is manageable for a Mudhol Hound, but watch it closely because a large body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winter nights drop to about 4°C in January. A Mudhol Hound copes well with cold, but a puppy still needs a warm, draught-free bed for its first winter.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Mudhol Hound puppy, the easiest months to arrive are February, March, April, May, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
