Health and vet care in Pokhari

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given the cooler climate suits thick-coated breeds but needs winter planning for others, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the cold winter season rather than during it. Check paws for cracking and ice between toes during the coldest months.

Feeding a large dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a large frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because the cooler climate suits thick-coated breeds but needs winter planning for others, keep water available and watch intake through the cold winter season.

Exercise and routine through the cold winter season in Pokhari

The cold winter season is the stretch that needs planning. The cooler climate suits thick-coated breeds but needs winter planning for others, so split the activity across two cooler outings rather than one long session. Consistency does more for a Pointer Puppy than intensity ever will. Check paws for cracking and ice between toes during the coldest months.

Grooming and coat care in Pokhari

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Pokhari being temperate highland, the cooler climate suits thick-coated breeds but needs winter planning for others, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Keep up daily exercise — the cool weather is ideal for longer, more active walks.

The city sits at about 1,357 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 31°C in May, so heat is rarely the problem for a Pointer that it is on the plains.

Winter nights fall to about 4°C in January. A Pointer feels that: bedding raised off the floor, a sweater or warm cover at night, and a room kept out of the draught.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Pointer puppy, the easiest months to arrive are April, May and October: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
