Exercise and routine through the cold winter season in Roorkee

The cold winter season is the stretch that needs planning. The cooler climate suits thick-coated breeds but needs winter planning for others, so keep sessions short and frequent. Consistency does more for a Doodle Puppy than intensity ever will. Provide a warm, draught-free sleeping spot and a coat for short-haired breeds in winter.

Health and vet care in Roorkee

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given the cooler climate suits thick-coated breeds but needs winter planning for others, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the cold winter season rather than during it. Provide a warm, draught-free sleeping spot and a coat for short-haired breeds in winter.

Is the Doodle Puppy right for Roorkee?

The Doodle Puppy does well in Roorkee, with one caveat worth knowing up front: the cooler climate suits thick-coated breeds but needs winter planning for others. For a friendly, intelligent, playful, medium-sized breed that mostly changes when things happen rather than what happens. Check paws for cracking and ice between toes during the coldest months.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Roorkee is hottest in May, averaging 41°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from May to June. A Doodle needs real protection from that: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 9°C.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Doodle puppy, the easiest months to arrive are October to March: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
