Is the Budgies right for Doboka?

Doboka is monsoon-heavy — rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential — and the Budgies is a medium-sized, family friendly, good with kids breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size copes well, provided shade and water are always within reach. Towel-dry after every walk in the rains and check between the toes for irritation.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the bird approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Space and the outdoors with a Budgies

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a family friendly, good with kids bird the fit is usually good either way.

Summer here peaks in April at about 34°C. That is manageable for a Budgies: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 11°C. A light sweater helps a tiny Budgies on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from May to September, and June is usually the wettest month. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.

For a new Budgies bird, the easiest months to arrive are February, March, October, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
