Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in Chamakhandi

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Chamakhandi, the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, which makes timing the variable that matters. Several brief outings suit this size better than one long one. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

Feeding a small bird here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a small build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In humid coastal conditions water matters as much as food — the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most birds eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Is the Red Collared Lorikeet right for Chamakhandi?

Chamakhandi is humid coastal — the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention — and the Red Collared Lorikeet is a small-sized, family friendly, good with kids breed.
