Pathankot is hottest in June, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from May to June. A Dusky Lorikeet needs real protection from that: a cage well away from windows and direct sun, a shallow bath dish, and a room that stays under about 32°C.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 9°C. A light sweater helps a small Dusky Lorikeet on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from July to August, and July is usually the wettest month. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.

For a new Dusky Lorikeet bird, the easiest months to arrive are March, April, September, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
