Feeding a small cat here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a small build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In monsoon-heavy conditions water matters as much as food — near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Space and the outdoors with a Siamese Kitten

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a social, vocal, smart cat the fit is usually good either way.

Is the Siamese Kitten right for Sarupathar?

The Siamese Kitten does well in Sarupathar, with one caveat worth knowing up front: near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention. For a social, vocal, smart, small-sized breed that mostly changes when things happen rather than what happens. Keep a dry, raised resting area — prolonged damp leads to skin and paw problems.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the kitten approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Exercise and routine through the extended rainy season in Sarupathar

The extended rainy season is the stretch that needs planning. Near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, so keep sessions short and frequent. Consistency does more for a Siamese Kitten than intensity ever will. Towel-dry after every walk in the rains and check between the toes for irritation.

Summer here peaks in May at about 35°C. That is manageable for a Siamese: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 11°C. A light sweater helps a small Siamese on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from May to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new Siamese kitten, the easiest months to arrive are February, March, October, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
