Exercise and routine through the dry summer months in Dohad

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Dohad, daytime temperatures climb high for much of the year, which shapes daily routines, which makes timing the variable that matters. Several brief outings suit this size better than one long one. Walk early in the morning or after sunset when the ground is cool, never on hot pavement.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most kittens eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Space and the outdoors with a Himalayan Kittens

Is the Himalayan Kittens right for Dohad?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here daytime temperatures climb high for much of the year, which shapes daily routines, and a medium-sized cat feels that more than an owner expects. The Himalayan Kittens adapts well to Dohad on a sensible routine — steady hydration and shade rather than reduced activity. A light summer trim (for double-coated breeds, never shave to the skin) helps comfort.

Feeding a medium cat here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a medium build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In hot, dry conditions water matters as much as food — daytime temperatures climb high for much of the year, which shapes daily routines, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Dohad is hottest in May, averaging 42°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Himalayan needs real protection from that because its short muzzle makes panting less effective at shedding heat and its double coat holds heat close to the body: a cool room with the curtains drawn in the afternoon, a tiled floor to lie on, and fresh water in more than one place.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 11°C.

The rainy season runs from July to August, and July is usually the wettest month. Dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new Himalayan kitten, the easiest months to arrive are October to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
