The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the kitten approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Feeding a small cat here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a small frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because summers are long and intense, so heat management is the single biggest priority, keep water available and watch intake through the dry summer months.

Living with a Siamese Kitten in Gurugram

City flats and high-rises are the norm, which suits a well-exercised, indoor-friendly Siamese Kitten. In a city, the routine has to be deliberate — fixed walk times, a defined resting spot.

Exercise and routine through the dry summer months in Gurugram

The dry summer months is the stretch that needs planning. Summers are long and intense, so heat management is the single biggest priority, so keep sessions short and frequent. Consistency does more for a Siamese Kitten than intensity ever will. Walk early in the morning or after sunset when the ground is cool, never on hot pavement.

Grooming and coat care in Gurugram

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With summers are long and intense, so heat management is the single biggest priority, a Siamese Kitten's coat and skin want checking more often through the dry summer months. On a smaller coat, irritation shows up well before matting does. A light summer trim (for double-coated breeds, never shave to the skin) helps comfort.

Gurugram is hottest in May, averaging 43°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to June. A Siamese needs real protection from that: a cool room with the curtains drawn in the afternoon, a tiled floor to lie on, and fresh water in more than one place.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 6°C. A light sweater helps a small Siamese on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from July to August, and July is usually the wettest month. Dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new Siamese kitten, the easiest months to arrive are March, September, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
