Living with a Himalayan Kittens in Phor

Homes here often have more space and independent plots, which gives a Himalayan Kittens room to move and settle in comfortably. With more room to work with, the routine can stay informal, though it should still be regular.

Health and vet care in Phor

Preventive care in Phor is largely a matter of anticipating the extended rainy season. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the kitten; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Towel-dry after every walk in the rains and check between the toes for irritation.

Feeding a medium cat here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a medium frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because the green, rainy climate is mild but demands dry shelter and grooming discipline, keep water available and watch intake through the extended rainy season.

Grooming and coat care in Phor

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Phor being high-rainfall tropical, the green, rainy climate is mild but demands dry shelter and grooming discipline, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most kittens eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

The city sits at about 1,459 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 27°C in May, so heat is rarely the problem for a Himalayan that it is on the plains.

Winter nights drop to about 4°C in January. A Himalayan copes well with cold, but a puppy still needs a warm, draught-free bed for its first winter.

The rainy season runs from June to August, and July is usually the wettest month. Dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new Himalayan kitten, the easiest months to arrive are March, April, October, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
