The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the kitten approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Space and the outdoors with a Russian Blue Kitten

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a gentle, quiet, shy cat the fit is usually good either way.

Is the Russian Blue Kitten right for Choudwar?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important, and a medium-sized cat feels that more than an owner expects. The Russian Blue Kitten adapts well to Choudwar on a sensible routine — steady hydration and shade rather than reduced activity. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in Choudwar

The long monsoon is the stretch that needs planning. The sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important, so keep sessions short and frequent. Consistency does more for a Russian Blue Kitten than intensity ever will. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

Grooming and coat care in Choudwar

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important, a Russian Blue Kitten's coat and skin want checking more often through the long monsoon. On a smaller coat, irritation shows up well before matting does. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon.

Choudwar is hottest in April, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Russian Blue needs real protection from that: a cool room with the curtains drawn in the afternoon, a tiled floor to lie on, and fresh water in more than one place.

Winters are mild, with January nights around 13°C, so cold is not a concern.

The rainy season runs from June to October, and July is usually the wettest month. Dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new Russian Blue kitten, the easiest months to arrive are November to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
