The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the kitten approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Space and the outdoors with a Russian Blue Kitten

Homes around Jonk usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A medium-sized breed manages this well when the outdoor time is genuinely regular.

Living with a Russian Blue Kitten in Jonk

With independent houses common, there is usually room for a medium-sized breed to exercise at home. Owners in eastern India tend to find this cat a gentle, quiet, shy companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Health and vet care in Jonk

Preventive care in Jonk is largely a matter of anticipating the long monsoon. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the kitten; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Is the Russian Blue Kitten right for Jonk?

Jonk is humid coastal — moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips — and the Russian Blue Kitten is a medium-sized, gentle, quiet, shy breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size copes well, provided shade and water are always within reach. Stay current on tick and flea prevention, which thrive in warm, damp conditions.

Jonk is hottest in May, averaging 43°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Russian Blue needs real protection from that: a cool room with the curtains drawn in the afternoon, a tiled floor to lie on, and fresh water in more than one place.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 11°C.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new Russian Blue kitten, the easiest months to arrive are October to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
