Grooming and coat care in Puri

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Puri being warm and humid, moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Stay current on tick and flea prevention, which thrive in warm, damp conditions.

Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in Puri

The long monsoon is the stretch that needs planning. Moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, so keep sessions short and frequent. Consistency does more for a Siamese Kitten than intensity ever will. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most kittens eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Is the Siamese Kitten right for Puri?

Puri is warm and humid — moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips — and the Siamese Kitten is a small-sized, social, vocal, smart breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size copes well, provided shade and water are always within reach. Stay current on tick and flea prevention, which thrive in warm, damp conditions.

Feeding a small cat here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a small build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In warm and humid conditions water matters as much as food — moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Summer here peaks in April at about 36°C. That is manageable for a Siamese: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are mild, with January nights around 16°C, so cold is not a concern.

The rainy season runs from June to October, and July is usually the wettest month. Dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new Siamese kitten, the easiest months to arrive are November to March: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
