Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size copes well, provided shade and water are always within reach. Keep unlimited fresh water available and add a cooling mat or shaded resting spot.

Feeding a medium cat here

Baseri is hottest in May, averaging 42°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to July. A Himalayan needs real protection from that because its short muzzle makes panting less effective at shedding heat and its double coat holds heat close to the body: a cool room with the curtains drawn in the afternoon, a tiled floor to lie on, and fresh water in more than one place.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 7°C.

There is no long rainy season; what rain there is falls mostly in July.

For a new Himalayan kitten, the easiest months to arrive are November to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
