Health and vet care in Pokhari

Preventive care in Pokhari is largely a matter of anticipating the cold winter season. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the kitten; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Check paws for cracking and ice between toes during the coldest months.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the kitten approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Feeding a small cat here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a small build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In temperate highland conditions water matters as much as food — crisp hill weather is comfortable for most dogs but harsh for short-coated ones in winter, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Space and the outdoors with a Siamese Kitten

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a social, vocal, smart cat the fit is usually good either way.

Exercise and routine through the cold winter season in Pokhari

The cold winter season is the stretch that needs planning. Crisp hill weather is comfortable for most dogs but harsh for short-coated ones in winter, so keep sessions short and frequent. Consistency does more for a Siamese Kitten than intensity ever will. Check paws for cracking and ice between toes during the coldest months.

The city sits at about 1,357 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 31°C in May, so heat is rarely the problem for a Siamese that it is on the plains.

Winter nights fall to about 4°C in January. A Siamese feels that: bedding raised off the floor, a sweater or warm cover at night, and a room kept out of the draught.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new Siamese kitten, the easiest months to arrive are April, May and October: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
