Is the Kanni Puppy right for Kadiri?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, and a large-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Kanni Puppy adapts well to Kadiri on a sensible routine — shorter outings, timed away from the midday heat. Dry the coat and ears thoroughly after baths or rain to prevent fungal and skin issues.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Health and vet care in Kadiri

Preventive care in Kadiri is largely a matter of anticipating the long monsoon. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the puppy; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In warm and humid conditions water matters as much as food — moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Living with a Kanni Puppy in Kadiri

With independent houses common, there is usually room for a large-sized breed to exercise at home. Owners throughout peninsular India tend to find this dog a loyal, shy, alert companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Kadiri is hottest in April, averaging 38°C in the afternoon. A Kanni needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are mild, with January nights around 15°C, so cold is not a concern.

There is no long rainy season; what rain there is falls mostly in October.

For a new Kanni puppy, the easiest months to arrive are January, February, June, July, August, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
