Is the Kanni Puppy right for Srisailam?

The Kanni Puppy does well in Srisailam, with one caveat worth knowing up front: the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention. For a loyal, shy, alert, large-sized breed that mostly changes when things happen rather than what happens. Stay current on tick and flea prevention, which thrive in warm, damp conditions.

Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In coastal tropical conditions water matters as much as food — the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Health and vet care in Srisailam

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the long monsoon rather than during it. Dry the coat and ears thoroughly after baths or rain to prevent fungal and skin issues.

Grooming and coat care in Srisailam

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, a Kanni Puppy's coat and skin want checking more often through the long monsoon. On a larger coat, matting and trapped moisture are what to catch early. Stay current on tick and flea prevention, which thrive in warm, damp conditions.

Srisailam is hottest in April, averaging 39°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Kanni needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are mild, with January nights around 15°C, so cold is not a concern.

Most of the year's rain falls in September. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Kanni puppy, the easiest months to arrive are January, February, June, October, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
