Space and the outdoors with a Kanni Puppy

Homes around Tirap usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A breed this size needs that outdoor time to be dependable, not occasional.

Is the Kanni Puppy right for Tirap?

The Kanni Puppy does well in Tirap, with one caveat worth knowing up front: the cooler climate suits thick-coated breeds but needs winter planning for others. For a loyal, shy, alert, large-sized breed that mostly changes when things happen rather than what happens. Keep up daily exercise — the cool weather is ideal for longer, more active walks.

Living with a Kanni Puppy in Tirap

With independent houses common, there is usually room for a large-sized breed to exercise at home. Owners across the North-Eastern states tend to find this dog a loyal, shy, alert companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Feeding a large dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a large frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because the cooler climate suits thick-coated breeds but needs winter planning for others, keep water available and watch intake through the cold winter season.

Grooming and coat care in Tirap

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With the cooler climate suits thick-coated breeds but needs winter planning for others, a Kanni Puppy's coat and skin want checking more often through the cold winter season. On a larger coat, matting and trapped moisture are what to catch early. Keep up daily exercise — the cool weather is ideal for longer, more active walks.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 30°C in June, so heat is rarely the problem for a Kanni that it is on the plains.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 7°C. A Kanni has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from April to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Kanni puppy, the easiest months to arrive are March, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
