The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Is the Afghan Hound Puppy right for Baghbor?

The Afghan Hound Puppy does well in Baghbor, with one caveat worth knowing up front: rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential. For a aloof, dignified, independent, large-sized breed that mostly changes when things happen rather than what happens. Maintain strict tick, flea and worm control, which peak in the wet season.

Space and the outdoors with a Afghan Hound Puppy

Homes around Baghbor usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A breed this size needs that outdoor time to be dependable, not occasional.

Living with a Afghan Hound Puppy in Baghbor

Homes here often have more space and independent plots, which gives a Afghan Hound Puppy room to move and settle in comfortably. Owners in the region's hills tend to find this dog a aloof, dignified, independent companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Health and vet care in Baghbor

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the extended rainy season rather than during it. Keep a dry, raised resting area — prolonged damp leads to skin and paw problems.

Summer here peaks in May at about 33°C. That is manageable for a Afghan Hound, but watch it closely because a large body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 10°C.

The rainy season runs from April to October, and June is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Afghan Hound puppy, the easiest months to arrive are November to March: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
