Exercise and routine through the extended rainy season in Boitamari

The extended rainy season is the stretch that needs planning. Near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, so split the activity across two cooler outings rather than one long session. Consistency does more for a Pointer Puppy than intensity ever will. Towel-dry after every walk in the rains and check between the toes for irritation.

Living with a Pointer Puppy in Boitamari

Homes here often have more space and independent plots, which gives a Pointer Puppy room to move and settle in comfortably. With more room to work with, the routine can stay informal, though it should still be regular.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Is the Pointer Puppy right for Boitamari?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, and a large-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Pointer Puppy adapts well to Boitamari on a sensible routine — shorter outings, timed away from the midday heat. Maintain strict tick, flea and worm control, which peak in the wet season.

Grooming and coat care in Boitamari

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Boitamari being lush, wet tropical, near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Maintain strict tick, flea and worm control, which peak in the wet season.

Summer here peaks in June at about 32°C. That is manageable for a Pointer, but watch it closely because a large body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 11°C. A Pointer has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from April to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Pointer puppy, the easiest months to arrive are February, March, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
