The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Exercise and routine through the extended rainy season in Dimow

The extended rainy season is the stretch that needs planning. Near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, so split the activity across two cooler outings rather than one long session. Consistency does more for a Kanni Puppy than intensity ever will. Keep a dry, raised resting area — prolonged damp leads to skin and paw problems.

Is the Kanni Puppy right for Dimow?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, and a large-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Kanni Puppy adapts well to Dimow on a sensible routine — shorter outings, timed away from the midday heat. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

Living with a Kanni Puppy in Dimow

With independent houses common, there is usually room for a large-sized breed to exercise at home. Owners in the North-East tend to find this dog a loyal, shy, alert companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Space and the outdoors with a Kanni Puppy

Homes around Dimow usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A breed this size needs that outdoor time to be dependable, not occasional.

Summer here peaks in August at about 34°C. That is manageable for a Kanni, but watch it closely because a large body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 11°C. A Kanni has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from April to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Kanni puppy, the easiest months to arrive are February, March, October, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
