Space and the outdoors with a Pointer Puppy

Homes around Harisinga usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A breed this size needs that outdoor time to be dependable, not occasional.

Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In high-rainfall tropical conditions water matters as much as food — rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Exercise and routine through the extended rainy season in Harisinga

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Harisinga, rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, which makes timing the variable that matters. Two shorter outings work better here for a breed this size. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

Homes here often have more space and independent plots, which gives a Pointer Puppy room to move and settle in comfortably. Owners across the North-Eastern states tend to find this dog a loyal, loving, confident companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Summer here peaks in June at about 33°C. That is manageable for a Pointer, but watch it closely because a large body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 11°C. A Pointer has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from April to September, and June is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Pointer puppy, the easiest months to arrive are February, March, October, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
