The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Health and vet care in Mahmora

Preventive care in Mahmora is largely a matter of anticipating the extended rainy season. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the puppy; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Maintain strict tick, flea and worm control, which peak in the wet season.

Is the Pointer Puppy right for Mahmora?

The Pointer Puppy does well in Mahmora, with one caveat worth knowing up front: near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention. For a loyal, loving, confident, large-sized breed that mostly changes when things happen rather than what happens. Towel-dry after every walk in the rains and check between the toes for irritation.

Grooming and coat care in Mahmora

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, a Pointer Puppy's coat and skin want checking more often through the extended rainy season. On a larger coat, matting and trapped moisture are what to catch early. Towel-dry after every walk in the rains and check between the toes for irritation.

Summer here peaks in June at about 33°C. That is manageable for a Pointer, but watch it closely because a large body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 10°C. A Pointer has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from April to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Pointer puppy, the easiest months to arrive are February, March, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
