Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In monsoon-heavy conditions water matters as much as food — rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Health and vet care in Sonitpur

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the extended rainy season rather than during it. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

Is the Pointer Puppy right for Sonitpur?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, and a large-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Pointer Puppy adapts well to Sonitpur on a sensible routine — shorter outings, timed away from the midday heat. Maintain strict tick, flea and worm control, which peak in the wet season.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Space and the outdoors with a Pointer Puppy

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a loyal, loving, confident dog the fit is usually good either way.

Summer here peaks in June at about 33°C. That is manageable for a Pointer, but watch it closely because a large body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 12°C. A Pointer has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from April to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Pointer puppy, the easiest months to arrive are October to March: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
