Is the Persian right for Teok?

Teok is monsoon-heavy — rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential — and the Persian is a medium-sized, family friendly, good with kids breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size copes well, provided shade and water are always within reach. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

Feeding a medium dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a medium frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, keep water available and watch intake through the extended rainy season.

Health and vet care in Teok

Preventive care in Teok is largely a matter of anticipating the extended rainy season. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the puppy; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Keep a dry, raised resting area — prolonged damp leads to skin and paw problems.

Space and the outdoors with a Persian

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a family friendly, good with kids dog the fit is usually good either way.

Living with a Persian in Teok

With independent houses common, there is usually room for a medium-sized breed to exercise at home. With more room to work with, the routine can stay informal, though it should still be regular.

Summer here peaks in June at about 33°C. That is manageable for a Persian, but watch it closely because its short muzzle makes panting less effective at shedding heat and its double coat holds heat close to the body: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 12°C.

The rainy season runs from April to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.

For a new Persian puppy, the easiest months to arrive are October to March: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
