The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Grooming and coat care in Devkar

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With extreme summer heat and a brisk winter both need planning across the year, a Greyhound Puppy's coat and skin want checking more often through the peak summer and winter swings. On a larger coat, matting and trapped moisture are what to catch early. Keep deworming and vaccination on schedule — seasonal changes can stress the immune system.

Health and vet care in Devkar

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given extreme summer heat and a brisk winter both need planning across the year, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the peak summer and winter swings rather than during it. Shift walks to early morning and late evening through the peak summer weeks.

Devkar is hottest in May, averaging 44°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Greyhound needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 11°C.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Greyhound puppy, the easiest months to arrive are October to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
