Health and vet care in Amirgadh

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given daytime temperatures climb high for much of the year, which shapes daily routines, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the dry summer months rather than during it. Watch for signs of overheating — heavy panting, drooling or lethargy — during peak afternoons.

Is the Kanni Puppy right for Amirgadh?

Amirgadh is hot semi-desert — daytime temperatures climb high for much of the year, which shapes daily routines — and the Kanni Puppy is a large-sized, loyal, shy, alert breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size needs its hard exercise moved to the cooler hours. A light summer trim (for double-coated breeds, never shave to the skin) helps comfort.

Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In hot semi-desert conditions water matters as much as food — daytime temperatures climb high for much of the year, which shapes daily routines, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Living with a Kanni Puppy in Amirgadh

With independent houses common, there is usually room for a large-sized breed to exercise at home. Owners in western India tend to find this dog a loyal, shy, alert companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Grooming and coat care in Amirgadh

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With daytime temperatures climb high for much of the year, which shapes daily routines, a Kanni Puppy's coat and skin want checking more often through the dry summer months. On a larger coat, matting and trapped moisture are what to catch early. A light summer trim (for double-coated breeds, never shave to the skin) helps comfort.

Amirgadh is hottest in May, averaging 42°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to June. A Kanni needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 10°C. A Kanni has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from July to August, and August is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Kanni puppy, the easiest months to arrive are February, September, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
