Exercise and routine through the dry summer months in Netrang

Build the day around local conditions rather than a figure from a breed chart. In Netrang, daytime temperatures climb high for much of the year, which shapes daily routines, which makes timing the variable that matters. Two shorter outings work better here for a breed this size. Walk early in the morning or after sunset when the ground is cool, never on hot pavement.

Living with a Greyhound Puppy in Netrang

With independent houses common, there is usually room for a large-sized breed to exercise at home. With more room to work with, the routine can stay informal, though it should still be regular.

Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In hot semi-desert conditions water matters as much as food — daytime temperatures climb high for much of the year, which shapes daily routines, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Netrang is hottest in April, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Greyhound needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are mild, with January nights around 13°C, so cold is not a concern.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Greyhound puppy, the easiest months to arrive are October to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
