Exercise and routine through the cold winter season in Barsar

The cold winter season is the stretch that needs planning. Winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, so split the activity across two cooler outings rather than one long session. Consistency does more for a Kanni Puppy than intensity ever will. Keep up daily exercise — the cool weather is ideal for longer, more active walks.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Grooming and coat care in Barsar

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Barsar being cold mountain, winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Older pets may need joint support as cold can stiffen movement.

Health and vet care in Barsar

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the cold winter season rather than during it. Keep up daily exercise — the cool weather is ideal for longer, more active walks.

Is the Kanni Puppy right for Barsar?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, and a large-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Kanni Puppy adapts well to Barsar on a sensible routine — shorter outings, timed away from the midday heat. Older pets may need joint support as cold can stiffen movement.

Summer here peaks in June at about 38°C. That is manageable for a Kanni, but watch it closely because a large body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 5°C. A Kanni has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from July to August, and August is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Kanni puppy, the easiest months to arrive are March, April and October: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
