Is the Kanni Puppy right for Shangus?

Shangus is temperate highland — winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority — and the Kanni Puppy is a large-sized, loyal, shy, alert breed. Those two facts decide most of what daily life looks like here. A breed this size needs its hard exercise moved to the cooler hours. Provide a warm, draught-free sleeping spot and a coat for short-haired breeds in winter.

Grooming and coat care in Shangus

Let the weather set the schedule, not the calendar. With winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, a Kanni Puppy's coat and skin want checking more often through the cold winter season. On a larger coat, matting and trapped moisture are what to catch early. Provide a warm, draught-free sleeping spot and a coat for short-haired breeds in winter.

Feeding a large dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a large frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority, keep water available and watch intake through the cold winter season.

Space and the outdoors with a Kanni Puppy

Homes around Shangus usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A breed this size needs that outdoor time to be dependable, not occasional.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

The city sits at about 1,735 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 30°C in June, so heat is rarely the problem for a Kanni that it is on the plains.

Winter nights fall to about -1°C in January. A Kanni feels that: bedding raised off the floor, a sweater or warm cover at night, and a room kept out of the draught.

There is no long rainy season; what rain there is falls mostly in July.

For a new Kanni puppy, the easiest months to arrive are May, June, August and September: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
