Space and the outdoors with a Pointer Puppy

Homes around Thiruvalla usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A breed this size needs that outdoor time to be dependable, not occasional.

Is the Pointer Puppy right for Thiruvalla?

The Pointer Puppy does well in Thiruvalla, with one caveat worth knowing up front: the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention. For a loyal, loving, confident, large-sized breed that mostly changes when things happen rather than what happens. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in Thiruvalla

In Thiruvalla, the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, which makes timing the variable that matters. Two shorter outings work better here for a breed this size. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Feeding a large dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a large frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, keep water available and watch intake through the long monsoon.

Summer here peaks in March at about 36°C. That is manageable for a Pointer, but watch it closely because a large body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters stay warm, with even January nights around 21°C, so there is no cold season to plan for.

The rainy season runs from May to November, and June is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Pointer puppy, the easiest months to arrive are December to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
