Living with a Pointer Puppy in Chandel

Homes here often have more space and independent plots, which gives a Pointer Puppy room to move and settle in comfortably. Owners in the North-East tend to find this dog a loyal, loving, confident companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Grooming and coat care in Chandel

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Chandel being high-rainfall tropical, rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Maintain strict tick, flea and worm control, which peak in the wet season.

Is the Pointer Puppy right for Chandel?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, and a large-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Pointer Puppy adapts well to Chandel on a sensible routine — shorter outings, timed away from the midday heat. Maintain strict tick, flea and worm control, which peak in the wet season.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Feeding a large dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a large frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, keep water available and watch intake through the extended rainy season.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 29°C in April, so heat is rarely the problem for a Pointer that it is on the plains.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 7°C. A Pointer has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from May to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Pointer puppy, the easiest months to arrive are March, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
