Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. Space and the outdoors with a Kanni Puppy

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a loyal, shy, alert dog the fit is usually good either way.

The city sits at about 1,507 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 26°C in May, so heat is rarely the problem for a Kanni that it is on the plains.

Winter nights fall to about 4°C in January. A Kanni feels that: bedding raised off the floor, a sweater or warm cover at night, and a room kept out of the draught.

The rainy season runs from June to August, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Kanni puppy, the easiest months to arrive are April and October: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
