Is the Kanni Puppy right for Lotsu?

The Kanni Puppy does well in Lotsu, with one caveat worth knowing up front: rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential. For a loyal, shy, alert, large-sized breed that mostly changes when things happen rather than what happens. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

Feeding a large dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a large frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, keep water available and watch intake through the extended rainy season.

Living with a Kanni Puppy in Lotsu

Homes here often have more space and independent plots, which gives a Kanni Puppy room to move and settle in comfortably. Owners across the North-Eastern states tend to find this dog a loyal, shy, alert companion, and the settling-in is usually easier than the first week suggests.

Grooming and coat care in Lotsu

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Lotsu being monsoon-heavy, rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Summer here peaks in June at about 32°C. That is manageable for a Kanni, but watch it closely because a large body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 9°C. A Kanni has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from May to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Kanni puppy, the easiest months to arrive are March, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
