Is the Cockapoo Puppy right for Phek?

Start with the weather, not the breed standard. Here rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, and a small-sized dog feels that more than an owner expects. The Cockapoo Puppy adapts well to Phek on a sensible routine — steady hydration and shade rather than reduced activity. Maintain strict tick, flea and worm control, which peak in the wet season.

Feeding a small dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a small build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In lush, wet tropical conditions water matters as much as food — rainfall is among the highest in the country, so wet-weather care is essential, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Living with a Cockapoo Puppy in Phek

Larger plots and open surroundings make this a comfortable setting for an active Cockapoo Puppy. With more room to work with, the routine can stay informal, though it should still be regular.

Health and vet care in Phek

Preventive care in Phek is largely a matter of anticipating the extended rainy season. Parasite control and skin checks earn their keep here more than they would elsewhere. The vaccination record travels with the puppy; staying on schedule is the single best habit there is. Towel-dry after every walk in the rains and check between the toes for irritation.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 28°C in June, so heat is rarely the problem for a Cockapoo that it is on the plains.

Winter nights fall to about 5°C in January. A Cockapoo feels that: bedding raised off the floor, a sweater or warm cover at night, and a room kept out of the draught.

The rainy season runs from May to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Cockapoo puppy, the easiest months to arrive are April and October: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
