Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In monsoon-heavy conditions water matters as much as food — near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Health and vet care in Tening

Local climate decides which problems actually turn up. Given near-constant moisture means skin, paw and bedding hygiene need real attention, the recurring ones here are skin and coat trouble, parasites and hydration — not the whole textbook. Keep vaccination and deworming on schedule, and book the check before the extended rainy season rather than during it. Maintain strict tick, flea and worm control, which peak in the wet season.

Space and the outdoors with a Pointer Puppy

Homes around Tening usually come with their own ground, which takes the pressure off a formal exercise plan. A breed this size needs that outdoor time to be dependable, not occasional.

Is the Pointer Puppy right for Tening?

For a loyal, loving, confident, large-sized breed that mostly changes when things happen rather than what happens. Ensure good airflow indoors to keep the coat and bedding from staying damp.

The city sits at about 919 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.

Summers here are mild, peaking at about 29°C in May, so heat is rarely the problem for a Pointer that it is on the plains.

Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 7°C. A Pointer has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.

The rainy season runs from May to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Pointer puppy, the easiest months to arrive are March, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
