Is the Kanni Puppy right for Fategarh?

The Kanni Puppy does well in Fategarh, with one caveat worth knowing up front: the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention. For a loyal, shy, alert, large-sized breed that mostly changes when things happen rather than what happens. Stay current on tick and flea prevention, which thrive in warm, damp conditions.

The first week

Expect a quiet few days. Most puppies eat less and sleep more while they settle. Keep the food the same as before the move, introduce the household gradually rather than all at once, and hold off on visitors for a bit.

Grooming and coat care in Fategarh

The aim is dry, clean skin — appearance comes second. Fategarh being coastal tropical, the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, so a regular brush prevents most of what would otherwise become a vet visit. Stay current on tick and flea prevention, which thrive in warm, damp conditions.

Feeding a large dog here

Feed age-appropriate food matched to a large build, and change brands gradually rather than overnight. In coastal tropical conditions water matters as much as food — the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, and appetite often dips before anything else shows.

Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in Fategarh

The long monsoon is the stretch that needs planning. The air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, so split the activity across two cooler outings rather than one long session. Consistency does more for a Kanni Puppy than intensity ever will. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Fategarh is hottest in April, averaging 41°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Kanni needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are mild, with January nights around 12°C, so cold is not a concern.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.

For a new Kanni puppy, the easiest months to arrive are November to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
