The first week

The first week is about routine, not excitement. Feed at consistent times, let the puppy approach people in its own time rather than being passed around, and keep the diet unchanged at first.

Living with a Pointer Puppy in Kishorenagar

Homes here often have more space and independent plots, which gives a Pointer Puppy room to move and settle in comfortably. With more room to work with, the routine can stay informal, though it should still be regular.

Exercise and routine through the long monsoon in Kishorenagar

The long monsoon is the stretch that needs planning. The air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, so split the activity across two cooler outings rather than one long session. Consistency does more for a Pointer Puppy than intensity ever will. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats.

Space and the outdoors with a Pointer Puppy

Space is rarely the constraint here; the routine is what needs attention. For a loyal, loving, confident dog the fit is usually good either way.

Feeding a large dog here

Diet is simpler than most guides make it. Good food suited to a large frame, fixed mealtimes, and any change phased in over a week. Because the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention, keep water available and watch intake through the long monsoon.

Kishorenagar is hottest in May, averaging 42°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Pointer needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.

Winters are mild, with January nights around 12°C, so cold is not a concern.

The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.

For a new Pointer puppy, the easiest months to arrive are October to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
